Indian film stars Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with other from the India's industries were given the Padma Shri awards 2009 by President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday March 31, 2009 in New Delhi. The actors were among the 62 personalities who received the Padma awards. Bollywood dancing queen of yesteryears, Helen, was also given with the Padma Shri for her contribution to art and cinema.

If the deal is signed, then it would be the first time a Barbie inspired from an Indian actress would hit the market shelves and put Aishwarya in the league of Hollywood celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Ross, Beyonce Knowles and Cher for whom such a Barbie has already be designed.

The song was originally composed by AR Rahman for Mani Ratnam's Lajjo (2007) and was going to be sung by Aamir Khan and Kareena Kapoor , since Lajjo has now be shelved, Rahman decided to use the song of RGV's Raavana with the vocals provided by Abhishek Bachchan and wife, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.

Aishwarya is being given high security to hide her look for the movie. Aishwarya is playing the role of Sita. The director is keeping all the cars away from the set and only allows staff to arrive by Jeep. Abhishek is playing the role of Rama and south Indian star Vikram plays the role of Raavan. The film will be made in Hindi and Tamil with Aishwarya playing the role of Sita in both versions.

The movie stars the Dhoom 2 pair of Hrithik Roshan and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and the Oscar nominated director Ashutosh Gowariker . Ashutosh has previosly directed Lagaan and Swades. Even with the bans in several Indian states that was faced by the movie, the movie did very well in the opening weeks. The film was released on 1000 screens of which 400 were through digital cinemas within India. The movie was dubbed in Hindi, Telegu, and Tamil and released in 25 countries in North America, Europe, Asia and West Asia.
