Madhuri Dixit was born on May 15, 1967 in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India.
Madhuri is an award winning Indian film actress. Madhuri made waves with her acting and dancing in Bollywood movies in the late 1980s and 1990s. In 2008, the Government of India awarded Madhuri the Padma Shri, India's fourth highest civilian award. Madhuri Dixit made her film debut in Abodh (1984) but it was her lead female role and acting in Tezaab (1988), which made her a leading lady in Bollywood. Some of her well known hits include Ram Lakhan (1989), Parinda (1989), Tridev (1989), Dil (1990), Saajan (1991), Beta (1992), Khalnayak (1993), Hum Aapke Hain Kaun! (1994), Raja (1995), and Devdas (2002).
In 1999, she married an Indian American, Dr. Sriram Madhav Nene, who is a UCLA trained cardiovascular surgeon who has a practice in Denver, USA. Once married she took a break from Bollywood until December 2006, when she returned to Mumbai to shot for Aaja Nach Le (2007), which was released later that year on November 30, 2007. The movie was not a box office hit, but Madhuri proved that she still has it.
