Reliance Power Ltd (RPL) will be offering its initial public offering this month and which will be the largest by any Indian company to date. The IPO was announced by Chairman, Mr Anil Ambani. The IPO will raise as much as Rs 11,500 crore of capital with the issue opening on January 15 and closes January 18. RPL is a subsidiary of Reliance Energy Ltd (REL) and owns 50 percent stake in the company. Part of the raised captial will be used to build six power projects across India.

Martina Hingis was today banned for 2 years for testing positive for cocaine at Wimbledon last year. The International Tennis Federation conducted an independent anti-doping tribunal which found the former tennis test very positive. Hingis announced her retirement Nov. 1, 2007, the same day the it was revealed that her test had come back positive. Hingis was a women's tennis superstar between 1997-2000, during which time she had won three straight Australian Opens, Wimbledon and the U.S. Open. |

Sania Mirza and her mixed double partner Rohan Bopanna played a breathtaking game to beat Australia's Alicia Molik and Peter Luczak 6-2 4-6 13-11 (tie-break). Now the Indian team will face Czech Republic team. Sania had earlier defeated Alicia Molik, 6-2 2-6 6-4 in the singles match to give India 1-0 lead. |
