| | Asin Thottumkal New Face For Tata Sky Date: 12/19/2008: TataSky, Direct to Home operator, announced that South Indian actor and Asin Thottumkal would be its brand ambassador. Asin will make her Bollywood debut next week in Ghajini (2008) . Ghajini also stars Aamir Khan and is a remake of a Tamil film of the same name. The movie has also been compared to Hollywood film Momento directed by Christopher Nolan. As an brand ambassador Asin will be featured in Tata Sky brand and product communication including advertisements on TV, print, radio and other mediums. TataSky has already previously signed Aamir Khan earlier July this year. | | Mahendra Dhoni Dating Lakshmi Rai? Date: 12/15/2008: Mahendra Singh Dhoni is again in the news regarding who he is currently dating. Dhoni was previously linked with Bollywood actress Deepika Padukone and now the rumor mill is busy with his maybe current relationship with actress Lakshmi Rai from the south. Lakshmi Rai was previously in the news being linked to bowler Sreesanth. Dhoni and Lakshmi were recently spotted in a five-star hotel in Chennai where Dhoni had gone there to select the Indian team for the England series. They had first met at a party of Dhoni's IPL match win. It also seems that the actress from the South has been signed for a Hindi movie, Gujju (2009) , which will start to shot next year. |

By lunchtime, the indexes had given up all their gains and for a moment were in negative territory. For the rest of the afternoon the market was pretty stable and closed mixed. MandT to buy Provident for about $400 mln in stock. | 12/18/2008: With the U.S. economy officially in recession and consumers clamping down on spending, the market of the so called Netbooks is looking promising. A Netbook features are light weight, low cost, energy efficient, highly portable laptop suitable for web browsing, email and general purpose applications along with being smaller in size. Asus introduced the tiny Atom powered Eee PC in late 2007, with HP following up with HP Mini Note and then Acer unleashed its Aspire One. Then it was Dell with Dell Inspiron Mini 9 and the Mini 12. The market started the day off in negative territory and by the afternoon managed to gain the loss back and turn positive with the help of materials, energy and consumer-related stocks but the market could not hold on to the gains and by the closing bell the market had closed down. Apple Stock Downgraded Due To Concerns over Jobs Health: Jobs was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2003, underwent surgery in 2004 to remove the malignancy. Downgrade occurred due to the lack of a succession plan if Jobs were to leave his post. Crude Oil again lost ground even with the cutback by Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) to the lowest level in more than four years. Chrysler said it was halting its manufacturing for at least a month, beginning Friday December 19, 2008. | 12/16/2008: Dows 8,924.14 up 359.61 (4.20%), Nasdaq 1,589.89 up 81.55 (5.41%), S&P 500 913.18 up 44.61 (5.14%). The Federal Reserve today lowered the Fed benchmark interest rate to the range of zero to 0.25 percent, the lowest level on record. The Federal Reserve also said that it will use "all available tools" to combat a severe financial crisis and prolonged recession. The stock market soared after the rate cut to close more then 300 points higher.
