Aishwarya Rai Padma Shri Award Aishwarya Rai Bachchan And Akshay Kumar Receive Padma Shri Award

Indian film stars Akshay Kumar and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan along with other from the India's industries were given the Padma Shri awards 2009 by President Pratibha Patil on Tuesday March 31, 2009 in New Delhi. The actors were among the 62 personalities who received the Padma awards. Bollywood dancing queen of yesteryears, Helen, was also given with the Padma Shri for her contribution to art and cinema.

Katrina Kaif Barbie Doll Barbie Doll To Be Modelled After Katrina Kaif

Initially Mattel Toys (India) wanted Aishwarya Rai Bachchan to be the face of Barbie Doll for India, but due to lack of available time for Aishwarya, Katrina Kaif is now all set to be the face of Barbie Doll in India. This will be the first time a Barbie inspired from an Indian actress would hit the market shelves and put Katrina in the league of Hollywood celebrities like Elizabeth Taylor, Diana Ross, Beyonce Knowles and Cher for whom such a Barbie has already be designed. Katrina was recently seen walking the ramp, at the Lakme Fashion Week in Mumbai, dolled up as a Barbie. The rumor is that a new series of ‘Katrina Barbie’ in a small pink dress will reportedly hit the market in September 2009.
I guess one loss is someone gain.

Nandita Das Nandita Das's Firaaq Not To Be Screened For Modi

Nandita Das has refused the request of Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for a special screeening of her directorial debut movie Firaaq. The screening was demanded by CM Modi becuase of the portrayal of certain facts of the Gujarat riots in the film.
The movie stars Tisca Chopra, Shahana Goswami, Deepti Naval, Paresh Rawal, Naseeruddin Shah, Sanjay Suri, and Raghuvir Yadav. The movie has already been released in the international market and is due to release on March 20, 2009 in India. The movie has already won awards like Best Film and Best Screenplay at Asian Festival of First Films and Special Jury Award at International Film Festival of Kerala.
Priyamani Tollywood Tamil and Malayalam Film Actress Priyamani Now In Kannada Film

Priyamani a popular actress in Tamil and Malayalam films will now be working in a Kannada film. Many in the past have tried to bring Priyamani into Kannada films and now producer Aditya Babu has made that happen by signing her in the movie Ram starring opposite Puneet Rajkumar. The movie has already started to shoot with the next shooting scheduled for Bangalore.
Preity Zinta Preity Zinta Meets New Zealand’s PM

Preity Zinta was last seen in the movie Heroes (2008) and recently has been in the new regrads to her involvement in IPL team Kings XI Punjab which is partly ownes alongs with her boyfreind Ness Wadia. She is currently in New Zealand by invitation from New Zealand Tourism Board and New Zealand Cricket and during her visit she met up with Prime Minister of New Zealand, John Key. During her visit she plans to watch the cricket one day series between India and New Zealand. Preity will next been seen in Har Pall (2009) which is planned for release later this year.

Megan Fox become an overnight sensation in Hollywood after her appearance in 2007 in the movie Transformers. Then late last year she appearanced on the cover of GQ, which set records for the magazine's sales and hits on its Web site transforming her into a sex symbol. Now she is in talks for a role in Jonah Hex, Warner Bros. action Western based on the DC Comics character, and Fathom, Fox Atomic 's comic book based underwater adventure. In summer 2009, Megan will be seen in Transformers Revenge of the Fallen (2009) .

The Indian goverment made many attempts to halt the auction of the memorabilia of Mahatma Gandhi but failed to do so. But no worry, it was Mr Vijay Mallya , Chairman of the United Breweries Group and Kingfisher Airlines who ended up winning the memorabilia for a price tag of $1.8 million (nearly Rs 9.3 crore) at a New York auction. The items won include his round rimmed spectacles, leather sandals, 1910 silver Zenith pocket watch and the brass bowl and plate. Vijay Mallya plans to donate the items to be placed in a museum. Vijay Mallya firm UB Group owns the Royal Challengers Bangalore team in the Indian Premier League.

International Business Machine (IBM) India recently announced that it had developed a new internet browsing technology which enables users to talk to the web and hence allow the creation of voice enabled websites. The protocol is called Hyper Speech Transfer Protocol (HSTP) similar to the text based HTTP. This could allow for applications typically from a mobile phone to be used with voice.

Apple today announced the availability of a new iPod Shuffle . It has been redesigned and provides more capability and functionality. It's half the size of the last generation but with twice the capacity, the latest Shuffle provides a way of letting you know what track you're listening to: It talks. It's available now for $79, the new Shuffle is billed as the "world's smallest music player," and indeed, it looks tiny just 1.8 by 0.7 by 0.3 inches, a little smaller than a AA battery. It also comes with new in line remote on the earphone cord, from which you can adjust the volume, pause and skip tracks. This also is its drawback since third party earphones won't work.

Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the next big thing in mobile wireless broadband. While WiMAX is being driven mostly by computer industry players, LTE is the leading edge broadband technology of the cellphone service providers. In some sense WiMAX and LTE are similar in that they both use technologies such as OFDM (orthogonal frequency division multiplexing) signal types and MIMO (multiple-input, multiple-output) signal processing algorithms. WiMAX and LTE are both IP (Internet Protocol) based technologies.

Oil rich Abu Dhabi has taken upon itself to build a green metropolis, a zero emission city in the desert. It will take more then $22 billions to build and is planned to be completed in 2016. This could mark the worlds first car free, zero carbon dioxide emissions, zero waste city. The city will be built on the outskirts of Abu Dhabi city. The city will run almost entirely on energy from the sun, garbage will be sorted and recycled, sewage will be processed into fuel. Automated electric transports that will replace cars. The Masdar Institute is meant to be what Stanford University is to Silicon Valley.

Last week was one of the worst week in the history of US financial markets with the Dow, SP and Nasdaq lossing a lot of ground, but today, the markets seems to have turned a corner with biggest point gain ever for the Dow. The Dow surged 936 points (11%), SP added 11.7%, Nasdaq added 11.8%. Has investors looked for bargins or bet that the worst of the credit crisis is over. We will have to wait to see if this is the start of a Bull market or just a one day shot up.
